Soho-1990-Hippychick [12inch]
Soho is a pop trio from England, consisting of the sisters Jacqueline (Jacqui) Cuff and Pauline Cuff, with Timothy London. Other members of the group over the years have been Dukie D (original programmer and electro-visionary), Liam Gillick (now a well known artist - Liam added live bites from vinyl at early gigs), Eds Chesters (now of The Bluetones), Leigh Gorman (ex Bow Wow Wow) and Barry Smith (of art school pranksters Add N To X). The group is known for their 1990 hit song "Hippychick", which was a Top 20 Billboard Hot 100 chart hit in the U.S. and a Top 10 hit single in the UK Singles Chart. The song featured a sample from The Smiths' recording "How Soon Is Now?" sequenced over a Soul II Soul rhythm. Here is 12inch "Hippychick" with "Never trust the hippy mix" and "Happiness is a warm hippy".
01-Hippychick (Extended) 02-Never trust a hippy mix (Midi Bollox) 03-Happiness is a warm hippy (Original Sg Mix)
I saw Doo Rag years ago when they opened for Beck when he played the Troc in Philly. I did not even know if anyone else had ever heard of them. Good on you for posting this.
